Author Guidelines

Important

By submitting a manuscript (ms) to the CGG Editorial Office, the corresponding author assumes the responsibility, on behalf of all co-authors of the ms, that the work covered by the ms represents own and original research or results, which has not been published previously in other scientific journals or peer-reviewed conference proceedings. The corresponding author, on behalf of all co-authors of the ms, also bears responsibility and declares that the same ms or a close derivate of it, has not been submitted to another scientific journal to be reviewed and considered for publication. The Editorial Office performs similarity check on submitted manuscripts using iThenticate.  Should any of these requirements be violated, the author is obliged to inform the CGG Editorial Office immediately or withdraw the ms from consideration in CGG. Breeching these requirements is deemed serious offence to fair publishing and will imply consequences. The corresponding author also bears responsibility for properly quoting the work of others that is present in the ms. The failure to do so is considered plagiarism. The author shall make sure that all quotations in the ms text are correctly refereed in the list of references, and that all the references are correctly quoted in the text (for both using the correct style and formatting of the journal). The corresponding author also bears responsibility for properly quoting his/her own work and work of the co-authors which was previously published. The failure to do so is considered self–plagiarism. The corresponding author also bears responsibility for correctly stating (and spelling) the names of all co-authors as well as their affiliations. The corresponding author also bears responsibility for the fact that each co-author on the submitted ms has contributed to the ms sufficiently enough to appear on the list of co-authors.

First submission and submission upon acceptance for publishing

Please submit the ms for the purpose of the review process preferably as a MS Word document (doc/docx/rtf format) or optionally as a PDF in a form natural for publishing and reading, that is, no line numbers, no double spacing, figures and tables including their captions embedded in text at their natural positions (not separately at the end of the ms). Make sure your paper is well structured and neatly formatted. Only upon accepting the ms for publication, in case the first submission was a PDF, the corresponding author will be asked to submit an editable ms (MS Word doc/docx/rtf , or LaTeX, or OpenOffice ODF) and figures and tables as separate files meeting the required quality standards. When submitting a manuscript in LaTeX format, please include all the files required for its compilation. This means that, in addition to the source file (or files) (*.tex), you should also include the formatting files (*.cls and *.sty) if they differ from the standard ones. You must also attach all images as separate files. In addition to these files, please be sure to include a PDF version of the manuscript along the LaTex files.

ORCiD

Providing ORCiD author identifier is mandatory for first and corresponding authors and highly
recommended for all co-authors. The linked ORCiD profiles must be meaningful and complete, not fake or empty.

English language

The manuscript should only be written in the English language. Make sure the level of English in the ms is acceptable. If authors struggle with this requirement, they are strongly advised to use English language editing services even if at a cost. Manuscripts with inadequate level of English will be returned to the author to be corrected at his/her own responsibility or cost. High quality of structuring the ms, of the style of ms, and of the language of the ms may help speed up the review process and the duration to the publication of the work.

Manuscript size, number of figures and Supplementary Material

The maximum allowable size for the main paper is 30 standard pages (1 standard page = 1800 characters including spaces). The maximum allowable number of figures in the main paper is 12. All remaining material (text and figures) must be submitted in the form of Supplementary Material (a PDF file). The Supplementary Material will be published online along with the main paper. Although the Supplementary Material is also subject to peer review, it will not be copy-edited, type-set or proofed. It will be published in the structure and format as submitted by the corresponding author, as a single PDF file. The author is responsible for the appearance and figure quality in the Supplement.

Cover letter
Cover letter is optional in CGG, yet recommended. It is a good way to explain the motivation for, and main achievements of, the submitted work. It also can contain suggested reviewers and suggestion for excluded reviewers.

Title page
Title page is not needed for the submission. All information typically given on a title page should be present at the beginning of the submitted manuscript (ms).

Structure and format of the ms

Title
The title of the submitted ms should be concise yet specific enough.

List of authors
The list of authors with superscripts referring to their affiliations. The author names shall follow a convention that the first (given) name is lowercase (small cap) and the family name is uppercase (all cap) like “Peter VAJDA”. The names in many countries are much more complex. Each author shall decide which of his/her name/names shall correspond to the “given name/names” and which to the “family name/names” of the western system. This should be established in an ORCiD profile of the author and used consistently throughout the publishing history of each author. The ORCiD profiles should be complete so that the author can be identified uniquely. CGG does not use WOS Researcher ID or Scopus Author ID. Corresponding author may differ from the first author and is identified by an asterisk.

Affiliations
Affiliation specifies the current or former workplace of each author. It includes the name of the organization (university, faculty, department, or institute, etc.), city, state/province, country (full street address not required), and the email contact. If several authors have the same affiliation, they can share the superscript of the affiliation and their emails will follow sequentially at the end of the affiliation.

Abstract
The length of Abstract is limited to 300 words. An abstract should be placed at the beginning of the paper. It should give concise information about the content of the core idea of the paper and indicate the main results and conclusions. It should not contain literature citations or allusions to the tables or illustrations

Keywords
The list of keywords is limited to 250 characters.

Tables
Tables should be run in the text, numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals and provided with an appropriate caption.

Figures
Figures should be run in the text, numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals, according to their sequence in the text. For copyediting and typesetting purposes, upon acceptance of ms for publication, figures have to be sent in electronic form, preferably in PostScript format. All figures (except for photographs, naturally raster graphics), should be in vector format to retain their quality in case of zooming. It is important particularly in case of pictures, composed of linear graphic items, as graphs and schemes. It is necessary to use the text font of suitable size, bearing in mind, that all graphics items should be fitted into area of 17.3 × 12.5 cm, the captions including. The raster pictures of low quality (resolution under 300 dpi) will be rejected. Since Congeo is e-journal, there are no charges for colour.

Citation and references

Citation (quotation) in the text should include the names of the authors (without initials), followed by the publication year in parentheses. If there are more than two authors, only the first author's name should be given in the reference, followed by “et al.”. When quoting the work, both the author and the year appear in the brackets. When quoting the author of the work, only the year of the work appears in brackets, not the author. See examples:

"... as proved earlier (Pohánka, 2001; Brimich and Latynina, 1988)…"

Authors should pay attention to consistency of the works cited in the manuscript and works listed in the References part, the works listed in the conclusive register should be cited in the manuscript text and vice versa.

Statement on the Use of AI:
Authors are requested to include a statement on the use of AI in the manuscript (ms), specifying whether they used AI, for (i) translating the text from native language into English, (ii) improving the English style and grammar, preparing summaries on the topical work or published literature, (iii) generating code for numerical computations, (iv) generating text of the ms, (v) etc.

Conflict of Interests:
The Statement on Conflict of Interests is optional in CGG

Author roles:
CGG does not require specifying the author roles.

Data or software availability:
This statement is optional but highly encouraged. Please specify if the data or software tools you used to complete the published work are available as Open Access or under specific conditions. If available, specify the links to the deposits or other sources from where they can be downloaded or sourced. Such availability enhances the opportunity to reproduce your work, arrive at complementary interpretations, and progress the scientific knowledge.

Funding:
Information about funding the published work can be given separately here or as part of the Acknowledgments.

Acknowledgements:
Acknowledgments serve for giving credit to all co-workers who contributed to the work but are not part of the list of authors. Also, sources of the used data or software tools can be listed here

Open Access License and DOI identifier
Upon publishing the ms, the production team will add an OA license statement into the fulltext paper as well as a doi identifier.
