[Special Issue] Call for Papers: EDUCATION AND SCHOOLING IN SOCIETY: SPATIAL ACCESSIBILITY AND SOCIAL JUSTICE
Education in a broader sense and schooling as a network of educational institutions in a narrower sense significantly influence the development of any society. While many governments and policymakers declare education as one of their priorities in their declarations, we can identify partial problems related to education and schooling in society. This special issue, therefore, focuses on the spatial, social, and economic aspects of education, school systems, and their relationship to social and regional development. It aims to discuss problems in education and schooling and propose solutions for the needs of local authorities and policymakers.
This special issue welcomes original research articles with novel contributions to the analysis of education and schooling and critical (comparative) studies with a broader (theoretical-methodological background). The special issue of the Geographical Journal opens the possibility of publishing to (not only) geographers, sociologists, social anthropologists, economists, political scientists, and other specialists. Each article should include a clear theoretical contribution and offer insights relevant to practice. It should be grounded in solid analysis with high-quality data and demonstrate a clear conceptual foundation.
We invite original research and in-depth conceptual papers on the topic, including but not limited to:
- The Geography of Education in the Context of Globalization and Internationalization.
- Spatial Accessibility and Social Justice in School Network.
- Child Enrollment and Marginalized Communities.
- Decision-making Strategies for School Choice.
- Alternative Educational Environments: Homeschooling, Distance Learning, and Others.
- The Impact of Urbanization, Suburbanization, and Rurality on Educational Opportunities.
- Pupil and Student Mobility: Regions of Attendance, Migration for Education and its Impacts on Regions.
- The Impact of Demographic Patterns on Schooling and Educational Systems.
- Educational Policies and Regional Development.
